A lot has happened in the last few days. While we were out for the day shopping and going to an appointment we received a phone call from our neighbor above us. Unfortunately, the guy forgot to turn off the water in his bathtub. Water came down to our condo and the store below us.
We arrived home with puddles in both bathrooms, hallway, Connor's room and our room. Yikes! Shortly after a guy came in with huge dehumidifier machines to dry out the water that are in wall, ceiling, floor, etc. As you know, we're going through a heat wave right now and the machines sends out heat!! Our condo feels like a sauna right now.
We were starting to feel ill from all the heat and we were just constantly sweating. We found out that the insurance company would be able to pay for us to stay in a hotel or purchase an air conditioner until the machines were out of our condo. Whew!
Air conditioner were sold out EVERYWHERE so we are staying at Holiday Inn in Burnaby. We couldn't find any vacancy room near our home. This hotel is pretty cool though because we have pool, air conditioner, free breakfast and mall next door. Fortunately, the insurance company will pay 75% of our food expenses.
This is sort of our mini vacation and it worked great to be on a long weekend plus Brendan's birthday on Sunday :) We'll be here until Tuesday morning - so lots of relaxation.
