Meeting with the Pediatrician

Connor and I met with the Pediatrician in the afternoon. The meeting was very informative.

The Dr. explained in depth what Connor's problem was. The ultrasound showed that the tubes going from kidney to bladder was infected. So - the urine going down the tube couldn't get through. Instead it would have a reflex and go back up.

The medications that Connor is taking is supposed to make the infection go away so that urine could make its way to the bladder. Connor is supposed to continue taking it until we hear the results from the Children's Hospital which would be approximately at end of Oct and beginning of Nov. We are supposed to get a phone call from the C.H. for an appointment to do the test.

The test contains a dye that would be put in Connor's system so that they could watch if there is still a reflex or not when urine passes down. If there is no problem then Connor would be able to stop taking medications. But if there is still a problem then Connor would have to continue taking medications and we will discuss it further with the Pediatrician.

We are supposed to make an apppointment with the Pediatrician for one week after the Children's Hospital's test.

There will be another test in March 2008 to check Connor's kidney. If there was any scar tissue they would want to fix it before the tissue shrunks and cause problems for when Connor gets older. The ultrasound showed that Connor's kidney was normal in size so the Dr. doesn't think he has any problem. The test is just a precaution since Connor is really small now. In 6 months they will be able to see the kidney more clearer.

Every month from now to March 2008 I have to collect urine from Connor via bag and then into container and take them to the lab. They want to make sure that there is nothing abnormal going on. If I notice the urine scent getting stronger or anything weird then I would have to collect urine sample right away and get it tested just in case.

While we were at the office the Pediatrician checked up on Connor as well. Connor is in the 90% of weight and length compared to other babies his age. That means that only 10 babies out of 100 is like him! Big boy eh! His head size is 50% which is the average. The Pediatrician said that he is just perfect so that is great.

That pretty much sums up what happened at the office today. Connor is doing just great smiling and laughing. He seems to be doing a lot better so that is good.
